I imagine that they could share a tale or two with your pistol. However, yours is precious to you because of its long service to your family.

I wish I knew even that much of my own family history.

Again, Great Story!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22957834.post-44081731075517090922007-03-18T21:39:00.000-05:002007-03-18T21:39:00.000-05:00Might be able to help you with that project. My ema...Might be able to help you with that project.
My email address is at the bottom of my blogsite.Jerry The Geekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16181610016755426448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22957834.post-17044211269849186902007-03-18T05:26:00.000-05:002007-03-18T05:26:00.000-05:00Dad and I went in together on a box of .41 Colt th...Dad and I went in together on a box of .41 Colt that I ordered from Old Western Scrounger, and we had LawDog over for a shoot. LawDog can really shoot that old SAA. I have fired a cylinderful through it, myself.

Barnes (in Cartridges Of The World) says that .41 Colt ballistics can be duplicated with .38 Specials loaded with 200g bluntfaced bullets. Considering that the load for the last 80+ years involved a hollow-based subcaliber (.38" or .39") bullet loaded so that it would slug out to the .41" diameter of the barrel, that's probably not so far off.

BTW, we were surprised to find that the hollow-based bullet thing actually worked pretty well, providing decent groups out of LawDog's legacy gun.Matt Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03500429239798601210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22957834.post-29654618335924164592007-03-17T22:31:00.000-05:002007-03-17T22:31:00.000-05:00Unc sounds like a larger-than-life kind of man. The 38-40 is currently available as "cowboy loads" and I think Remington still loads a JSP for it. A bit less scarce than .41 Colt, and more power.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22957834.post-77622945213346385872007-03-17T14:14:00.000-05:002007-03-17T14:14:00.000-05:00Great story and somewhat of a coincidence. I didn't get any stories with the gun, but given the time & place, it may be just as well... Nonetheless, I wouldn't sell it at any price. Oh, and it was also the first handgun I ever fired at age 6 (44 yrs ago). What can you tell me about getting ammo for it?

MontyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22957834.post-64243114055048464612007-03-17T09:44:00.000-05:002007-03-17T09:44:00.000-05:00LawDog, you know very well this post is useless wi...LawDog, you know very well this post is useless without pics.

Great story, though.
